The Exchange to Arrive on Cake

Cake Poker has just established a player-to-player marketplace where participants can buy and sell Gold Cards (i.e. “collectible rewards that are randomly distributed to players at all of our real money ring games”).

Cake Exchange

If you have a spare one, you can sell it for cash in The Exchange and if you happen to need any to enter a certain Gold Card tournament, you might find one available for purchase. In order to be able to access The Exchange, an upgrade to Cake 2.0 is going to be necessary, if you have missed it yet. Once logged in, you will see the "Exchange" button in the Gold Card tournament lobby, which takes you to the marketplace.

More and more poker applications hit the mobile phone market with SwitchPoker’s recent development for the iPad/iPhone and the latest addition: Full Tilt Poker’s release for the Android.

Google Android applications: is Rush Poker to be added soon?

While the former currently offers only NLHE cash games, the latter will provide one of Full Tilt’s most popular formats, the Rush Poker. Following months of testing, it is assumed that FTP is ready to release the application in a few weeks’ time. What is more, this would be the very first real-money service provided by a major e-gaming company.

The latest WPT Season 9 event at the Bellagio ended with yet another record set by 20 years old Randal ‘RandALLin’ Flowers: not only is he the youngest ever to win a WPT event (WPT Barcelona, June 2009) but now he is also the youngest to take down two.

At the beginning of the event finale, Flowers already had a minor lead in chips. The stacks were as follows:

Homeless Poker Player Saved by 2+2

A man called Jared Huggins lost his $100 bankroll in a heads-up match, his 3 jobs and has been evicted from his home. Really bad luck. After 6 months spent on the streets he was saved by none other than the Two Plus Two community.

Jared Huggins

It all started out by Huggins posting on Two Plus Two forums under the nickname 'RelaxedPrecision' last February. Being totally broke and having no friends in Los Angeles, he decided to live on the streets of Venice Beach. Some cynical Two Plus Two users suggested him to make funny videos for cash. Of course that was only a joke, but Huggins made the videos anyway, for example where he dances for money, gives free hugs on Venice Beach, or raps about alcohol.

Book on Van der Sloot Coming Soon

As Gambling911.com reports, a new book entitled “Joran’s Murder Mysteries” by Dutch authors Bert Huisjes and John van den Heuvel is to be released soon, dealing with the murder cases associated with former poker pro Joran van der Sloot.

The disappearance of Natalee Holloway in 2005 and the alleged murder of college student Stephany Flores earlier this year are on his account, although he told several controversial stories regarding the former and recanted his confession on the latter. The new book is said to shed light upon these issues as it is expected to “contain never-before-released confidential police files and photographs.”

Van der Sloot is currently held in the Castro Castro Prison in Peru, awaiting the trial of the Flores case. See my earlier articles on his arrest and his attitude towards the jail.

Crazy Poker Lawsuit in Illinois

You are not going to believe this. Illinois has some sick legislation, and as it turns out, many other states have too. Scott Crespo is suing some winning Illinois players on the basis of an old code that says all money above $50 lost gambling can be sued back.

poker judge

That's right. If you lose more than $50 playing poker, you can sue your money back, according to this code. But Mr Crespo didn't say he lost money to the people he sued, oh no. The code also says, that if after 6 months the loser does not sue the winners for the lost money, anyone can. This is exactly what the Mr Crespo (who is a lawyer in Florida by the way) does.

WSOP announced the Poker Hall of Fame Class of 2010 yesterday morning.. The newest members of the Hall of Fame are 1995 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Dan Harrington and eight-time bracelet winner Erik Seidel.

I have already wrote the Poker Hall of Fame itself and also about Doyle Brunson's feelings about the 10 nominees. He also tried to guess who would be the 2 winners. Now we know, he got Seidel right, but missed about Harrington.

phil ivey

Phil Ivey was seen at the Wynn Casino in Las Vegas at a craps table throwing a huge tantrum. According to eyewitnesses, the table employee made a mistake which the poker pro thought to be ridiculous. He stood up, and started shouting with 2 floor supervisors. Before leaving, he reportedly said to the first one "If you see me playing dice here again I’ll suck your D**k" then turning to the other supervisor "Yours too"

Rosenkrantz and Caby to Make a Documentary About the Online Poker Boom

High stakes pro Jay Rosenkrantz announced yesterday on his blog that he is about to collaborate with Taylor Caby and Ryan Firpo, making a "definitive feature length documentary about the online poker boom". Now this sounds interesting.

"Our goal: to use key events to chronicle the evolution of online poker and examine its impact on the lives of a handful of online poker players from around the world. We’ll be exploring the nuances of the subculture, from 2p2 to poker training sites, along with the psychological implications of the online poker lifestyle and the themes that have made poker so popular throughout time.  We are getting ambitious — it’s going to be a film about the pursuit of true freedom through the highs and lows of professional gambling, and the rare opportunity awarded to a generation of poker players: the opportunity to actually achieve it."  - Writes Rosenkrantz in his blog post.

Major Room Sponsorship for Isildur1?

On the blog of the Swedish expressen.se site, high stakes blogger Sohello ’BankTheMan’ Shah claims that a “20 years old” person, who “has during the end of 2009 and the whole of 2010 become one of the poker world’s hottest topics,” is going to sign a sponsorship contract with one of the major online poker rooms.

Isildur1

While it is assumed that the deal is going to be completed in a couple of days, the identity of the player remains hidden, which leads many of the poker community to the assumption that he or she must be the (over)mystifiedIsildur1.

Poker Is Now a Listed Profession States The Department of Labor

Have you ever wondered whether the so many existing 'poker pros' who work as full-time poker player have a real job or just listed as unemployed? Or are they really Poker Professionals legally? Well, I'm telling you, they were not. Not until now, to be precise.

This is how pro poker players usually look like

An individual not to be named wrote a very interesting post on the popular Two Plus Two Forums concerning the same thing. He wanted to start a vocational school in California for the profession 'Professional Poker Player' when he realized such a job did not exist. Of course he didn't surrender, contacted the government, exchanged a few emails, and now it's a legit, real profession in the US according to the Department of Labor. How? Read his story below.
