Ali Imsirovic does it: takes down back-to-back events at Poker Masters

The young online cash game specialist suddenly finds himself on the top of the Purple Jacket Rankings.

The $50,000 NLH event at Poker Masters generated 47 entries, to create a prize pool of $2,350,000. After taking down the $25K event, Ali Imsirovic triumphed in this event as well.

Most of the top high-roller regs showed up for the event, even some of those, who couldn't be seen before, with the likes of Christoph Vogelsang or Keith Tilston. However, none of them were able to stop Ali, who dominated the whole event. The youngster started the six-handed final table with more than half of the chips in play, and never looked back. He managed to bust all of his opponents in the finals.

All-time money list leader, Justin Bonomo was his first victim, finishing in 6th place for $141,000. Justin was followed by Sam Soverel, who lost his last chips with Ace-king against the Queens of Ali. Sam walked away with $188,000. Just like earlier, Jake Schindler couldn't get anything going at this final table either and eventually fell in 4th place when his pocket fours were outflopped by the 7-5 of Imsirovic. Jake added $235,000 to his winnings.

Sitting on a short stack, Seth Davies couldn't last too long, he busted in 3rd place with pocket tens against two pairs, shortly after. Davies took home $352,500 for his 3rd-place finish.

Two young guns were facing each other in the heads-up as Ali and Koray Aldemir were the last two men standing. The 100-hand long battle so the chip-lead going back and forth, with Koray picking up several bluffs from Ali. But the aggression soon paid off for Imsirovic and eventually busted Aldemir with King-queen against 9-8.

Koray received a prize of $517,000, while Ali added another $799,000 to his bankroll.

Despite a high number of high-rollers around, the $100K event didn't attract many players, only 15 entries were logged. David Peters is the current chip leader, with 8 players left, but Justin Bonomo (495,000), Seth Davies (466,500), Rainer Kempe (464,000), Ali Imsirovic (422,500), Christoph Vogelsang (250,500), Nick Petrangelo and Dominik Nitsche (124,000) will certainly have something to say about Peters' plans of winning.

With his outstanding performance, Ali is now the leader of the Purple Jacket Race, followed by former 1st, Brandon Adams. Other than him, only Ike Haxton, Jake Schindler, and Ben Yu have a chance to catch Imsirovic, but they have to enter the $100K on Day2 if they want to take their chances, since the first two have already busted, while the rest hasn't entered the event.
