The Best Of 2016 (Part 1)
In our year review, we are looking back on the top events that shaped the world of poker. In Part 1, we browse through the top news from January to April.
January:
22 year-old online world champion Fedor ''CrownUpGuy'' Holz took down the biggest tournament in the history of the World Poker Tour, the Triton $200k Super High Roller.
Henry Rosario Martinez passed away on January 19, but that fact didn't stop him from playing some more poker with his friends and family.
Fabian Quoss took down a stacked final table on the Aussie Millions $100k Challenge for almost $1,5 million.
February:
One of the game's more controversial players, Sorel Mizzi was accused of cheating (once again). Worse of all, other big name players seem to have known it...
Winamax created free advertisement for itself, when it credited player with €1,5 million. It wasn't all laughs when they demanded the money back, though.
Dzmitry Urbanovich won EPT Dublin, for €561,900. Life-changing money for some, it was only his fourth-largest score.
A total of 15 players have won at the second annual American Poker Awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award for Mike Sexton.
March:
The prop bet of the year was certainly between Dan Bilzerian and Bill Perkins. Naturally, it didn't go without controversy.

Maria Ho had a legitimate chance to take down WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star, but in the end, it was Stefan Schillhabel to win $1,298,000
David Baazov, CEO of Amaya, therefore also PokerStars had made a news a couple of times this year. Mostly with bad news, though.
April:
Many thought it was 2011 in the high stakes world, when Dani Stern was the biggest winner of the month, while Victor "Isildur1" Blom was the biggest loser
Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul joined the GPL, offering poker a much needed marketing boost.
Continuing the weird trend of poker players fighting bets, Olivier Busquet beats JC Alvarado in MMA match.
