EPT Malta Main Event Day 2 - Sam Chartier in the lead with 186 players left

By the end of Day 2 of the European Poker Tour Malta Main Event there were 186 players left battling it out for the €810,400 first place prize. The chipleader is Sam Chartier, make sure to check out the live stream from Day 3 in the article.

512 players started Day 2 of the EPT Malta Main Event but by the end of the day, there were only 186 players left competing for a chunk of the €4.3 million prizepool.

Plenty of big names were eliminated, including WSOP November Niner Jorryt van Hoof, German high rollers Philipp Gruissem, Martin Finger, Ole Schemion and Fabian Quoss, but Theo Jorgensen, Vanessa Selbst, Bertrand ''ElkY'' Grospellier and George Danzer were also eliminated.

Sam Chartier is in the lead with 465,000 chips, he won a huge pot early on to build a massive stack. He bet three streets in a 3bet pot on the board of 4-6-9-K-8 and made a backdoor flush with A-2 suited against Ivan Soshnikov's 8-8.

Other big stacks going into Day 3 include 2014 WSOP Main Event champ Martin Jacobson, Jonathan Duhamel, Jake Cody and Dominik Panka.
