EPT Vienna 2014 - Khoroshenin Wins Main Event, Soulier Takes Down High Roller

Following a three-way deal, Oleksii Khoroshenin won €578,392 for his victory in the EPT Vienna 2014 Main Event. High Roller tournament winner Fabrice Soulier earned €392,000.

Last weekend saw the eight-handed finale of the European Poker Tour Main Event with Anthony Ghamrawi in the chiplead (stack: 5,150,000). Favourites of the final nine, however, were SCOOP champion and $1,000 NLHE Hyper-Turbo HU regular Frei ‘deamon10’ Dilling, WSOP 2013 $1,500 NLHE Shootout winner Simeon Naydenov and PokerStars Sunday 500 winner online MTT pro Marko ‘BriDge2PaiN’ Neumann, whose short stack was still sufficient for him to come back.

The seat draw was as follows:

Rumen Nanev, Dilling, Naydenov, Timo Pfutzenreuter and Pablo Gordillo were eliminated in this order and the final three made a deal:

Oleksii Khoroshenin: 8,635,000 (€497,900)
Anthony Ghamrawi: 4,690,000 (€446,481)

€50,000 was left in the prize pool for the winner. The players took the rest of the game accordingly seriously and, after a long three-handed play, Neumann finished 3rd, his full house cracked by Khoroshenin’s nut full house. The latter thus had a 3:1 edge over Ghamrawi heads-up and did manage to grab the champion’s title.

Jonathan Duhamel, Fady Kamar, Benny Spindler, Rasmus Agerskov, Dmitry Yurasov, Vitaly Lunkin and Oleh Okhotskyi were railed in 9th to 3rd places, respectively, leaving WSOP champion Soulier and Anatoly Filatov to play heads-up for the title.

By the last hand, Soulier had a lead of 8:1 over Filatov and the latter called all-in for 1,100,000 on Soulier’s 3-bet shove on Level 26 (10,000/30,000/60,000).

The Frenchman earned €392,900, making his lifetime live tournament winnings $5,553,510.
