Humberto Brenes departs from Team PokerStars Pro

One of the most beloved characters and most accomplished live players on Team PokerStars shared the details of the split with the company and his future goals.

Humberto's contract has ended on July 31, and it was not renewed. He represented the company for the past 8 years and is one of the most popular players both globally and in the Latin America poker scene.

Humberto has no hard feelings whatsoever, he said that PokerStars has always been a great sponsor and they have discussed the possibilities for a new contract, but they couldn't come to an agreement and mutually decided that it's best for both parties if they continue on their own path.

"The Shark", as he is known for his signature plastic shark that he uses as a lucky charm on tournaments, has expressed gratitude and respect towards PokerStars for the time spent together.

He also said that some other members of Team Pro might leave and it's unlikely that PokerStars will hire any new members.

Humberto has amassed live tournament earnings of $6.1 million, won two WSOP bracelets and has WSOP 82 cashes for total earnings of $2,326,916.

He has no plans of slowing down, he said he wants to win at least one more bracelet, so he can give one to each of his children, and he also wants to reach the 100 WSOP cashes milestone and is going to participate in most of the events of the 2015 World Series of Poker, as well as some of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure events at the Bahamas. He has stated that poker is a hobby he enjoys very much and wants to continue to have good times with his countless poker friends at the tables.

After the WSOP is over, Humberto wants to spend more time with his family, two of his children are going to graduate soon, and they will be most likely involved in the family businesses somehow (Humberto has a wide range of investments from restaurants to cookie factoresi).
