Microgaming realizes Fish Party is impossible to beat

A rare occasion in todays poker: a network makes a player-friendly change

The MPN network, more commonly known as Microgaming, with rooms such as Betsson, has launched it's Spin & Go type game, Fish Party on July 11. As it is with other lottery SNG's, Fish Party is a 3-handed, hyper-turbo, winner-take-all tournament, where the prize pool is randomly drawn at the start of the tournament. A big difference with other rooms is that Fish Party offers jackpot as well, which increases the effective rake from 5% to over 10%.

As the jackpot only plays out in one in 200,000 games, this meant even the best player hardly broke even in the games, if they never have the luck of a jackpot game. Microgaming therefore announced that while the jackpot will increase in a much lower rates, they will decrease the progressive jackpot rake to 0.85%. This means, that players who will never experience a jackpot game, will still "only" pay 6% in rake.

Another change is that the 4x multiplier is decreased to 3x, while the 6x will be played out more often.

"In order to make poker successful, we need to balance luck and skill. We should not turn poker into roulette or slot games" said Alex Scott from Microgaming.

Changes will be effective on December 14.
