The most interesting statistics of the 2016 WSOP

This year's World Series of Poker broke several records, including the most events cashed by a player and the average number of entrants.

The 2016 WSOP was very exciting with Jason Mercier's crazy bracelet bet against Vanessa Selbst and the set-up of possibly the strongest Main Event final table ever.

Pokerlistings has thoroughly examined this summer's events, below we will take a look at some of the interesting statistics.

  • Roland Israelashvili gathered 13 ITM finishes, which is a new record
  • Chris Ferguson, the ex-Full Tilt owner hated by most of the poker community cashed 10 times
  • A total of 23 players have won at least $1 million this year (including the November Niners)
  • The oldest participant was 95 year old William Wachter
  • Players of 107 countries participated in the events
  • An average of 1,563 players registered to the events, which is a new record
  • 6,373 players registered to the Main Event, this is the fifth largest turnout in WSOP history
  • There were a total of 107,919 entries (including the rebuys from Event # 4), which is a 4% increase from last year and the second time ever that attendance went over 100,000
  • Players paid a total of $18,022,202 in rake
  • $222,307,216 total prize pools (including bounties from bounty events), the third biggest in WSOP history

Fedor Holz won the most money (until the November Nine is completed) with $5,023,694, followed by Dan Smith ($3,593,697) and Koray Aldemir ($2,455,122).

USA players won the most money, they made 381 final tables from 11,946 ITM finishes and won a 53 bracelets, 40 silver and 45 bronze medals, winning a total of $133,534,510.

Players from the United Kingdom made 544 ITM finishes, 32 final tables, won 3 bracelets and had 5 other top 3 finishes for total winnings of $11,373,606.

Rounding out the top 3 is Russia, they made 212 ITM finishes, 15 final tables, with two wins and two top 3 finishes.
