Partypoker is raising funds for charity
The site will run a charity event for people who are affected by hurricane Dorian on the Bahamas.
Partypoker announced they will run a special charity online poker tournament next month, while they also set up a Just Giving page to raise fund for the American Red Cross via a Twitter campaign. According to Wikipedia, "Hurricane Dorian was the most powerful tropical cyclone on record to strike the Bahamas, and is regarded as the worst natural disaster in the country's history".
"We are fundraising to support the American Red Cross's Hurricane Dorian Appeal. Hurricane Dorian's dangerous strong winds, tidal surges, and life-threatening flooding have caused residents along the Atlantic Coast and in the Bahamas to flee their homes," a statement on partypoker's Just Giving Page reads.
"The American Red Cross is working around the clock, providing help to people in need. They need our support to continue addressing the urgent needs of people affected by this disaster. Many families have nowhere else to turn. Please support our fundraising page," it follows.
Despite the crisis at the Bahamas, partypoker didn't cancel the upcoming Caribbean Poker Party (CPP), which is scheduled to run between November 16 and 23 in the Baha Mar Resort.
