Patrik Antonius is in the lead at the Sochi Triton Poker High Roller

The action was heavy on Day 1 of the Triton Poker High Roller at Partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Russia.

Right after their stop in Jeju, the Triton guys joined forces with the Partypoker LIVE MILLIONS staff in at the Sochi Casino and Resort and the first event is already underway.

The RUB3,000,000 High Roller (~$50,000) generated a field of 37-entry strong but only 24 players reached Day 2 with Finnish legend, Patrik Antonius leading the field. Despite registering late, Patrik managed to triple up his starting stack of 50,000 and ended the day on the top of the leaderboard with 151,700.

He is followed by Johannes Becker, who accumulated 137,500. The two Partypoker LIVE MILLIONS champion is followed by Igor Yaroshevksyy (128,300) and high-roller regular Timothy Adams (125,700). The last player in the top 5 is also a familiar face, German wunderkind, Koray Aldemir. Koray bagged 120,000 when the play ended.

The remaining field is filled with household names: Partypoker's Philipp Gruissem (73,000) and Triton founder Richard Yong (61,500) will both return to the tables with more than what they started with. However, there were some well-known members of the high-stakes community, who failed to advance to the next day, as Niall Farrel, Paul Phua, Wai Kin Yong, and Partypoker Ambassador Anatoly Filatov all fell during the first day.

Germany's Manig Loeser needed three bullets to make it to Day 2, but he'll have plenty of work to do as his stack of 36,700 is one of the shorter stacks. Even though many players busted on the first day, the size of the field will certainly grow, as the registration will remain open for the first three levels of Day 2.
