Phil Ivey entering the medical marijuana business?

According to the Las Vegas Review Journal, professional poker player Phil Ivey is amongst the first people whose request for the medical marijuana dispensary permit has been approved in Las Vegas. The news instantly gained huge interest in the poker community, and the forums are already flooded with "pot committed" and "pot odds" jokes.

The Las Vegas Review Journal published an article yesterday about a 16 hour hearing held by the Las Vegas City Council where they decided on 26 permits for the growing and distribution of medical marijuana.

Ivey has successfully received a permit in the first round, but still needs approval from the state health department. In case he receives a permit from both the state and city, the application will be routed back to the City Council for a final suitability hearing.

The online poker forum readers saw this as a great opportunity for (not so) clever puns and Photoshops, you can follow the thread on the 2+2 forums. Ivey recently lost a huge lawsuit against the Crockfords casino, has been not doing too well in the online high stakes games and even closed his Ivey Poker app (temporarily), so it's possible that he is just fed up with poker and wants to focus on the "Highvey League" for a while instead of playing and putting out material for the Ivey League training website.
