PokerStars Signs Campos as New CEO

EGR Magazine has recently revealed that Gabi Campos is appointed the new chief executive officer to PokerStars, the biggest online poker room.

Campos et PS

Campos, former managing director of 888’s business-to-business arm Dragonfish, announced a couple of weeks ago that he was to leave his position “to pursue new challenges.” According to EGR, Dragonfish provided the bulk of the 2009 income of 888 Holdings and produced a significant rise compared to 2008, while the rest of the company, including its business-to-customer arm, was declining.

Already working as a consultant, Campos starts as CEO from 4 October 2010. In the mean time, Isai Scheinberg, founder of PokerStars, carries on as chief technical officer and his son, Mark Scheinberg, will act as chairman.

One might assume that the number of setbacks the company has suffered recently (see my previous posts on the French issues, the conspiracy and the bot problems) may have something to do with this change; rest assured, it could be just the thing PokerStars needs.
