Ted Forrest calls out Mike Matusow for $1.7 million weight loss bet debt

Ted Forrest and Mike "The Mouth" Matusow made a weight loss propbet in 2010 for $2 million, which Forrest eventually won. Forrest has now called out Matusow for only paying $70,500 of his debt in the past 4 years, and Matusow told him that he is not willing to change his lifestyle just to pay his debt.

Ted Forrest made the bet with Matusow in May 2010, with 13:1 odds: he had to drop from 188 pounds to 138 pounds in less than 2 months. Forrest won the bet after starving himself for the last few days, but Mike Matusow told him that he can't pay once the bet was over. Justin "BoostedJ" Smith, who had 10% of the action has already paid his $200,000 share to Forrest, but Matusow said the following:

"When we made the bet I told him that I don't want him to die, also because this would mean I don't get my $150,000. I also told him I can't pay it off all at once. I bet because I was sure that it was impossible for him to do it. I was sure it's not going to work out. I'm going to wait 6 months, then he will get a bigger sum. The 6 months waiting time is necessary, because I'm still not sure he will survive. I think its 50-50. He has lost all of the muscle from around his heart, he could have a heart attack any moment. After this, I will pay him $5,000 every week. But I wan't to clearify, this was our original agreement, yes, he wanted to kill himself for $5,000 a month..."

After this, the two players made up, but Forrest recently called out Matusow for still owing him $1.7 million and asked him to at least have the decency to work out a payout plan. Matusow replied in a series of Twitter messages:

"4 years ago me and Ted made a bet and were very drunk when we made it I then told him I don’t want the bet cause I can’t afford to lose.”

“He then said sorry you owe me $500k to cancel bet, I laughed and said fine don’t cancel the bet but I’m not changing my lifestyle for anyone and that if you win you will get $5k a month out of my full tilt pay check.”

“After it looked like he would win he went to Howard and full tilt demanding they pay the bet if he wins, they laughed in his face.”

“You all know full tilt stole mine and everyone’s money and I’ve struggled to survive since. But now he has been paid 200k by Justin Smith who had 10% of the bet and 93500 by me in which I told him I would pay 106500 which is 10%. I feel this is more than fair since Full Tilt ruined my life.”

“Sorry Ted if you think you’re getting anymore money sue me I got 4 people who were there when the bet was made and I made it clear I wasn’t changing my lifestyle for you or any bet when it was made.”

"So stop lying about me to people in public or I will out you for the thief and crook that you are, take care my friend, Mike"

Forrest hasn't replied to Matusow's Tweets so far, but it's very likely that six-time WSOP bracelet winner Ted Forrest is not going to let Matusow off the hook just because he lost his Full Tilt Poker income, especially after the disrespectful and threatening tone of the Tweets.

Currently there seems to be no resolution, but both players were also recently nominated for this year's Poker Hall of Fame, and many suspect that Forrest decided to go public with the matter to use this spotlight to showcase Matusow's ways and possibly pressure him into paying back his debt, so the situation might change soon.
