WSOP Main Event On The Go

On 5 July 2010 the WSOP Main Event took a head start at 12:05 PM at the Rio with the welcome speech of 2004 WSOP champion Greg ’Fossilman’ Raymer, showing off his 18-karat gold bracelet, which the players „all came here for”.

WSOP 2010 Main Event Day 1A

This year’s event is expected to exceed the current record of 63,000 participants with more than 70,000 players estimated. The Main Event alone houses about 7,000 champion wannabes.  The prize pool is over $100 million, which means WSOP is still among the leading sport and gambling events around the world.

Since 2004 there are multiple opening days at WSOP marked 1-A, B, C or D. Day 1-A alone has around 1,125 paricipants, including leading names like Bobby Baldwin, Chris Moneymaker, Greg Raymer, Thor Hansen, Mike Matusow and David Sklansky.

However, names, origins or previous achievements do not count for much; everybody is here to win which means thousands of players to beat for the champion title. Day 2-A – for those with luck – commences on 9 July.

Good luck for the participants! I will keep you updated on the tournament.
