WSOP APAC - Jack Salter leads Main Event final table
Day 4 of the WSOP APAC Main Event started with 18 players with Victor Teng in the chiplead with 1.8 million chips, but there were plenty of great players still left in the field. By the end of the day, the 6-handed final table was set, and the chipleader is EPT Grand Final runner-up Jack Salter with 3.2 million chips, while Teng finished as the final table bubble.
Day 4 of the APAC began with 18 players after a hectic Day 3 that saw 42 players eliminated and Victor Teng taking the chiplead. The first elimination of the day was Sean Winter, and the next one to fall was Brandon Shack-Harris, after his JJ failed to hold up against Frank Kassela's A9. With Shack-Harris' elimination George Danzer officially won the WSOP Player of the Year award, we will publish an article with all the details of the POY race tomorrow.
Players tightened up around the final table bubble, and Jason Giuliano, a local player who has down to only a few big blinds on Day 3, built a huge stack in this period. Giuliano was in prime position to reach the final table with a stack of 2.3 million, but not much more than an hour later he was already eliminated, after running AK into KK, and KK into AA to lose two huge pots.
Victor Teng, who began the day as the chip leader was the final table bubble, after he 5bet all-in with JJ only to run into Salter's KK.
Play will continue on Saturday at 3:30 PM local time, with Jack Salter in the lead with 3.25 million chips, which is almost 110 big blinds. The young English player, who won a side event at the Aussie Millions and finished in second place at the EPT Grand Final earlier this year will be in great position to take down the A$850,000 first place prize, but he has tough competition, including 2010 WSOP Player of the year Frank Kassela and Macau and Melbourne regular Henry Wang.
