PokerStars introduces All-in Equity display, announces withdrawal of PokerStars 6 in 2015

PokerStars has officially announced that in the beginning of 2015 they are going to withdraw the PokerStars 6 software and players will only be able to play on the recently introduced PokerStars 7 client. In other news, they have added an All-in Equity display to both clients that shows the winning percentages of hands after players have gone all-in.

As we have previously reported, PokerStars has recently introduced their PokerStars 7 software for the players on the .EU client.

The beta testing lasted from August to November, after this, the default client was PokerStars 7, but players still had the opportunity to play on the PS6 software, but soon, every player has to continue playing on PS7, as the old software will be withdrawn.

PokerStars gave the following statement:

"We have over 400,000 players using our new PokerStars 7 software daily, and we are planning to discontinue the older version, PokerStars 6 early in 2015. We'd like to get more player input on the coming switchover, which could happen within a month or two."

PokerStars 7 is the only client that supports the recently integrated casino games and they are planning to expand their casino offerings as well as adding a sportsbook to the client, so it's understandable that they want to move all existing customers to the new client.

PokerStars has also introdcued an All-in Equity display, which shows the winning percentages after players have gone all-in. The setting is enabled by default but can be turned off in the settings.

Many players have argued on the forums that the All-in Equity display will educate recreational players and make the games even more tough, while others have stated that the percentage display is standard in live streaming, and that introducing this function will make poker more similar to live poker streams, which could be interesting for recreational players.
