Delaware and Nevada to merge online poker player pools in 4-6 weeks

According to Nevada governor Brian Sandoval, Nevada and Delaware online poker players only have to wait 4-6 more weeks before the two states merge their player pools.

Nevada governor Brian Sandoval and Delaware governor Jack Markell made an agreement in February 2014 which stated that the two legalized poker markets can share their player pools. The "Multi State Internet Gaming" agreement also entails a clause that lets other states join the player pools aswell.

The launch of the shared market was delayed several times, according to the original plans it should have happened in 2014, but according to an official announcement, the launch will happen in 4-6 weeks.

Sandoval told the Las Vegas Review Journal that the launch was delayed by technical difficulties.

Currently the operators have to be licensed in both legalized markets to be able to share the player pools. 888poker is behind the All American Poker Network (Delaware) and they also have WSOP.com in Nevada (they are planning on launching their own site in the near future however).

Other operators are not involved in the shared market yet, Real Gaming currently only provides services in Nevada, but industry experts believe that the launch of the shared market could make several operators more interested in the smaller Delaware market.

There have also been negotiations regarding the legalized New Jersey market joining the Multi State Internet Gaming agreement, but it is currently unknown how far along these plans really are.
