PokerStars introduces n-Stack tournaments
The letter "n" actually means a number, currently there are 3-Stack, 5-Stack and 10-Stack tournaments available. The starting stack of the players will be divided into the number that is in the "n" bracket and players are free to choose how they want to use their stack.
In case of a 5-Stack tournament, players will receive 5x1500 stacks for a total of 7500 chips. Before the start of the tournament players have to decide how many stacks they want to use as a starting stack and how many they want to reserve for later.
Players can decide to start as a deep stack tournament and use all their chips but they also have the chance to start with a stack of 1,500/3,000/4,500/6,000 and keep the rest of the chips for later. The remaining chips can be used as an add-on between hands or to use them as a rebuy after losing an entire stack.
Players have a limited timeframe where they can use the stacks, if they don't use up a stack, it will automatically be added to their stack after a certain time.
The remaining stacks of other players can also be seen in the lobby or at the table, if a players' stack is not visible it means they have used up all of their available chips.
n-Stack tournaments essentially give players a chance to play tournaments as either deep stacked or rebuy tournaments.
