Mississippi Grind - New poker movie coming in September

The two leading roles are played by Ryan Reynolds and Ben Mendelsohn and according to early reviews both of their performances are fantastic, some have even called it Reynolds' best role of his career. 

 

Lately a lot of poker movies have recieved mainstream attention, such as Runner Runner, the sequel to Rounders, the biographical movie about Mike Matusow or Matt Salsberg's poker series, but this September we will get a movie that has been flying under the radar so far.

Mississippi Grind, which debuts in September is written and directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, who have previously created movies like It's Kind of a Funny Story and Half Nelson, which hold a 7,2 and 7,3 rating on IMDB.

The two main characters are played by Ryan Reynolds and Ben Mendelsohn  and both of them have been praised for their performances.

According to the story Gerry (Mendelsohn) is a talented poker player who also likes to gamble. He has financial problems when he meets young Curtis (Reynolds) and the two set out for a journey to the legendary high-stakes games in New Orleans.
