Chris "Jesus" Ferguson returns to WSOP

The player and former member of the Full Tilt Poker management returned to the WSOP without making an apology or even a statement about the Full Tilt fiasco, which sparked plenty of controversy.

Chris "Jesus" Ferguson was one of the most popular players after the years of the poker boom, his signature outfit and his success at the tables made him a valueable asset to Full Tilt. He starred in several commercials, promoted the product and inspired countless players to deposit on the site.

Since then Ferguson's perception in the public eye has changed dramatically. After Black Friday, he basically disappeared for five years without giving players any explanation regarding his involvement in Full Tilt.

Howard Lederer, who also played a controversial role in Full Tilt going belly-up and not being able to pay its players for years has at least made a long interview with PokerNews and recently released a statement where he took some responsibility and apologized to the players for what happened to the site afte Black Friday.

While many are still furious at Lederer and it's unlikely that he will ever be in a leading position in the poker industry again, at least he faced and answered the questions that Ferguson has been avoiding for the past five years.

Ferguson showed up at the 2016 WSOP and registered to the $10,000 7-Card Stud Championship but when he was approached for a comment, all he said was "I'm just here to play poker."

While many respected members of the industry, including Mike Sexton said that Ferguson was one of the Full Tilt management members who tried to pay out players' funds, his decision to remain silent is not helping his case.

Sexton said that he understands the players' frustration regarding Ferguson and that he should come forward with his side of the story if he ever wants to be accepted again in the poker community.

Daniel Negreanu has said that at this point, an apology would mean nothing. He had five years to think about what he wants to say to the community, and if all he could come up with is "I'm just here to play poker", then that means he feels absolutely no remorse and that apology wouldn't be sincere at all.

What do you think? Does Ferguson owe an explanation to the players or is it too late to make any kind of apology anyway? Tell us in the comments!
