Changes coming to Global Poker League playoffs and finals

GPL leader Alex Dreyfus has announced that the remaining part of the season will be played out in Las Vegas to focus on the US audience, which brings in most of the traffic.

While the Global Poker League is a fantastic initiative, the first period of the inaugural season had plenty of problems and leaks.

Dreyfus has stated that the GPL has learned from these mistakes and implemented changes for the remaining period of the season.

Originally the GPL playoffs were set to be played out during TwitchCon in San Diego and the final at the Wembley Stadium in London but now these matches will be played out in Las Vegas.

This change will save the company plenty of money as the GPL doesn't have to transport "The Cube" accross continents.

The GPL's unique arena, The Cube

The GPL will still have a presence at TwitchCon (September 30 - October 2) where visitors will be able to take on several GPL players and buy GPL merchandise.

The restart date has also been delayed until September 20 due to the Burning Man festival, EPT Barcelona and the World Championship of Online Poker.

Dreyfus aims to get the fans more involved in the GPL, according to his plans players will be able to bet on the matches and purchase branded merchandise.

Thanks to the changes and the reduced costs the GPL will now be able to focus more of their attention on their digital audience and on plugging some of the leaks of the first part of the season, which should benefit the League greatly.

If Dreyfus and his team are able to learn from their mistakes and use their newfound experience, the upcoming GPL events could be more effective in reaching their target audience and provide even more excitement for their established fan base.
