Unibet Open London Starts Today

The event will feature star players like Unibet ambassador Viktor “Isildur1” Blom, Will Kassouf and Griffin Benger. The venue is the Grosvenor Casino in London, better known as “the Vic”, from February 23th to 26th.

Last year’s Unibet Open in London had 418 players competing for a total prize pool of £459,800. This year about 200 people qualified online according to online sources, and since David Pomroy, senior marketing strategy manager at Unibet, said that "half of the field at Unibet Open is normally made up of online qualifiers", we can deduce that the number of players will be roughly the same this year.

Two invitationial S&G’s already took place before the official opening: Charlotte “Sjlot” Van Brabander finished first in the Unibet Ambassadors Sit & Go tournament, after she beat Viktor Blom in the heads-up for the first prize. Alan Widdman won the eSport S&G.

The first day for the Main Event is, however, today. The buy-in is £990 for 30,000 chips with hour-long blind levels. The other highly anticipated tournament is the £2,020 buy-in two-day high roller.

Unibet Poker is streaming the events live on Twitch here: https://www.twitch.tv/unibetpoker.

The London stop of the Unibet Open is not the only news regarding the Malta-based gambling site nowadays: Kindred Group, which includes Unibet had bought up smaller UK rival 32Red PLC for £175.6 million.

With all this talk about Unibet, let us remind you that if you regestier here on Unibet, you can take part in an exclusive $5,000 prize pool cash race.
