An Asian Poker Network Is No.2 in Player Traffic

Is an Asian online poker boom coming? IDNPoker allows only players from Asia on their sites yet they took over the No.2 spot on PokerScout’s player traffic ranking.

PokerScout has recently started tracking IDNPoker’s cash game player traffic. The network was virtually unknown among the larger online poker community. With PokerScout’s new ranking, however, they managed to draw quite a lot of attention: turns out they are currently ranking second in terms of player traffic, only behind PokerStars, and with a significant lead over the rest of the field.

According to the most recent statistics on average 13,500 players played at one of PokerStars’ cash games tables a week, while on IDNPoker the same stat is 3,500. This may seem like a huge difference in favor PokerStars but plese note that IDNPoker is a relatively new network and only takes players from the Asian market.

Third on the traffic ranking is 888poker with an average 2,000 cash game players per week, the fourth position is currently occupied by Winamax.fr with 1,350.

This is what an Asian player had to say about IDNPoker on the PokerScout forum: “Great site loads fast no any other technical issues either. I especially like fast games (have half time to think what you do) that would make fast and better games. Games have good action players is not just waiting good cards they are playing.”

If you want to take a look at the Asian poker room yourself, here's some gameplay footage from YouTube:

IDNPoker’s headquarters is located in Manila in the Philippines, the “epicenter” of high stakes poker in Asia. Many in the online poker community hope that they will open up its gates to players outside Asia eventually.
