48th WSOP Schedule and More

The most prestigious poker championship series, The World Series of Poker is just around the corner. The 48th installment starts on May 30th with 74 bracelets to be rewarded until July 17th. The official schedule has been released for a long time now, but there's still plenty of poker left to play in Vegas during those 7 weeks besides the 74 events. Belgian tournament pro Kenny "SpaceyFCB" Hallaert put together a list of other tourneys to look for while the WSOP is underway in Las Vegas, NV.

The WSOP - which was dubbed "The Woodstock of Poker" in Caesar Entertainment's press release about the schedule - will be hosted in their usual venue, the Rio All-Suit Hotel & Casino. The most highly anticipated tournament, the $10,000 buy-in Main Event starts its 10-day journey on July 8th. The players start with 50,000-chip stacks on a 75-150 blind level which increases after every 3 hours. The American cable sports channel ESPN will provide coverage of the event. The current reigning champion is Vietnamese-American Qui Nguyen, who took over $8,000,000 in prize money after finishing first last year. He can be the first to defend his title since 1988, when Johnny Chan from China won two ME championship in a row (then remarkably came in second the next year).

The  $111,111 buy-in High Roller for One Drop will take place on June 2nd.

You can read the official schedule in its entirety here.

However, if you are cardplayer in Las Vegas in June and July this, you can choose from more than what's on the WSOP menu.

Here's the list Hallaert put together with the help of other tournament pros of poker tourneys going on during the WSOP in Vegas.

You can find on the list events in other famous Vegas casinos, like the Venetian, Planet Hollywood, Aria, Wynn, Bellagio, Golden Nugget and Binions. The smallest buy-in event you can find there is $200 while the largest is $5,000.
