Maria Lampropulos Wins PartyPoker LIVE MILLIONS Main Event

The Argentinean woman brought home the £1,000,000 first prize.

The £5,300 buy-in 3-day Main Event took off on April 19th at the Dusk Till Dawn Casino in Nottingham with 1240 entrees. This meant that the prize pool surpassed even the lavish £6,000,000 guaranteed and shot up to £6,017,395. Many well-known names, such as Mike Sexton and Will Kassouf were among the players aiming to get a piece of that pile of cash.

But neither of them made it to the 8-handed final table where the fate of the £1,000,000 first prize was decided. The 8 players who did were, in order of elimination: Neel Murthy (US), Katie Swift (UK), Stephen Chidwick (UK), Jon Sprinks (UK),Mateusz Rypulak (Poland), Jeremy Pantin (Trinidad & Tobago), Jacob Mulhern (UK) and finally, the winning lady, Maria Lampropulos from Argentina.

In the final hand, Mulhern called Lampropulos's pre-flop shove. He had AQ off while her cards were pocket kings - since the board was all brick, Lampropulos triumphed.

In addition to the £650,000 second prize the 24-year-old Mulhem was also consoled by his £100,000 "golden chip" prize which was awarded to the best online satellite qualifier of the event.

But the star of the evening, evidently, was Maria Lampropulos who told this to pokernews.com about her victory:

"It really feels like a magic moment I’m in right now. I’m a little tired after such a difficult final table, but tomorrow I’ll realize what I did. He didn’t want to make a deal. He was convinced that he could win. Perhaps because I am a woman and he didn’t want to deal with a woman, but I trusted in my game, I just thought ‘let’s play".
