Rainer Kempe and James Chen win APPT Macau High Rollers

Even though the HK$2,000,000 is over, the action is still heavy in Macau.

German high-roller crusher, Rainer Kempe increased his live tournament earnings after winning the 2018 APPT Macau HK$100,000 High Roller Single Re-Entry at the City of Dreams Casino. Rainer was the last man standing in the field of 38, which was good for an HK$1,203,000 ($153,297) payday. Six places were paid and the top three spots were taken by Germans only.

Considering that the total earnings of $14.6 million only puts him in the third place in Germany's all-time money list, it's clear to see that the Germans know how to win tournaments. (The 1st is Fedor Holz with $26.7 million, while the second is Christopher Vogelsang with $15.6 million).

There are no shortage high-stakes games when it comes to Macau. James Chen took down another HK$100,000 HR event on the same day. James managed to outlast a field of 192 for HK$1,704,000 ($512,411) and the PSPC Platinum Pass. Chen now has nearly $2.5 million in live tournament earnings.

Several familiar faces made the final table of this tournament too, as Dominik Nitsche (8th; HK$492,000), Kristen Bicknell (4th; HK$1,523,000) and Stephen Chidwick (3rd; HK$1,868,000) all came close to the win. However, it was Xin Fan from China and James Chen from Taiwan who played the heads-up.

Chen started the duel with a 3:1 chip lead and it didn't take him too long to get things done. In the final hand, Fan shoved his remaining chips, holding Queen-Ten against the King-Ten of Chen's - the latter managed to hold. Chen took down the event for HK$4,021,000 ($512,411), while Fan booked his biggest ever win in form of the HK$2,714,000 ($345,855) prize for finishing second.
