Pascal Lefrancois wins the 2018 Partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Grand Final Barcelona €10,300 Main Event
The record-setting event with the biggest ever prize awarded at the Casino Barcelona made the Canadian pro €1,700,000 richer.
The Main Event of the festival attracted a total of 1,175 players, who created a mind-boggling €11,397,500 prize pool with 3 seven-figure prizes for the top 3 finishers.
“It has been exhausting, an exhausting four days especially with the two flights on Day 1. I tried to keep my focus even though I was pretty tired. It is really sick,” - said the champion after taking down the title. “You see these events and you just don't think you can win.” - he added.
Lefrancois finished Day 2 as the chip leader and also started the final table with the biggest stack, but it didn't mean he had an easy way to the trophy. There were a number of top-notch players amongst the final eight, who were all playing there best game. Winner of the €25k Super High Roller event, Davidi Kitai got 7th for €325,000 increasing his total winnings for the trip up to €1,025,000. High-stakes cash game player Diogo "phounderAA" Veiga finished 6th for €450,000, while Germany's Jan Schwippert and Dominik Nitsche became 5th and 4th for €602,500 and €800,000 respectively.
The three-handed period saw Pascal with a huge chip lead, over Adam Owen and Stephen Chidwick. Chidwick eventually finished in 3rd place for a cool €1,000,000 which is only his second biggest score in Barcelona, as his runner-up finish in the €100k Super High Roller earned him €1.1 million. His total earnings for the year amount to almost $5.5 million.
Lefrancois started the heads-up with a commanding lead, but Owen was able to close the gap and he even managed to take the lead at one point. After some back and forth the tournament finally ended, when Owen raised the button to 38 million and 4-bet shoved for his 451 million against the 105 million 3-bet of Pascal's.
