Juan Pardo takes down EPT Monte Carlo €10K Opening Event, Nikita Bodyakovskiy leads €100K SHR
The upcoming Spanish player booked his second biggest win, while the online sicko is doing what he usually does.
Even though Juan Pardo is definitely not a household name in the poker community yet, he can easily change that in the recent future. He's just got his feet wet in the world of high rollers and already has 3 six-figure scores from April! He got fifth in of the two €25,500 Partypoker Live MILLIONS High Roller in Barcelona, finished 2nd in the other one for €150,000 and €450,000 respectively and now adds another €201,500 to his total earnings, making it almost a million total.
"It is a dream come true," he said after the win. "I feel tremendously happy and proud to have achieved this victory. I had to face good players like Timothy Adams, Stephen Chidwick or Rainer Kempe, but fortunately today things went perfectly."
Despite flying under the radar during the final day, with his relatively short stack, he managed to outlast strong competition including Rainer Kempe, Ryan Riess or Stephen Chidwich, to find himself in the heads-up against, Timothy Adams. Padro started the duel with the chip lead and managed to end things quickly. Timothy shoved for his last 12 big blinds and Juan made the easy call with Ace-King.
"He had a big chip lead and I just couldn't come back," Timothy said. "He plays really well. Tricky, aggressive, doesn't give off much. I'm sure he'll keep being around."
The Spaniard, who used to focus mainly on heads-up cash games is now switching to turn to the live tournament scene, playing all of the big tourneys in Monte Carlo, only to get back to the online grind for the upcoming Spring Championship of Online Poker.

While the young Spaniard took down the €10k event, Mikita "fish2013" Badziakouski was crushing the €100K Super High Roller, finishing the day as the chip leader, with a 1,381,000 stack. He's followed by Ike Haxton, who sits on 1,033,000 and Ole Schemion, who built a stack of 949,000. While the tournament was originally a single-reentry event, players decided to change the rules and make it unlimited instead.
The players debating the entry-issue
"It always was an unlimited reentry and [single reentry] came as a surprise to many," PokerStars Team Pro Igor Kurganov explained. "The tournament is for the players and the players decided they all wanted unlimited."
22 players will return for Day 2 later today from the 44 entrants to spike the seven-figure prize.
