Arne Kern takes down WSOP Millionaire Maker

His third ever cash at the WSOP brings the bracelet and $1.1 million to the young German.

The Event #21: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Millionaire Maker was the third biggest, since the debuting event in 2013, with 7,361 entries and a total prize pool of $9,937,350. 17 players returned to the last day with Arne being 11th in chips.

The first player to be busted at the final table was Chad Hahn (8th; $82,018). Hahn was followed by Sean Marshall, who shoved with pocket fives and got called by the Jacks of Barny Boatman.

Long-time UK pro, Barny put his remaining chips into the middle in a 70-30 situation, but his Ace-King got outdrawn by the Ace-Jack of Arne's to send Barny to the rail at 7th place, good for $175,865.

Manuel Ruivo exited at 6th place when he ran into the pocket Aces of Samad Razavi with pocket nines. The board ran out clean, and Manuel could collect his $230,120 prize at the cage.

Michael Souza finished 4th for a career-best $402,614, while Justin Liberto, who finished 4th in the 2013 Milli Maker almost repeated his performance, as he finished 5th this year for $303,294.

The winner of the 2015 WSOP Main Event, two-time bracelet winner, Joe McKeehen got 3rd for $538,276, increasing his total live earning to $15,488,573.

As a high-roller regular, Joe is always a force to be reckoned with, even when short in chips: “I knew that he was a very good player, and I was hoping that he would be the one... heading backward, not having a lot of chips. I tried to keep him down, yes, but he played a lot of pots with me as well.” said Arne after his victory.

Kern beat UK pro, Samad Razavi in the heads-up. Razavi earned $724,756 for finishing as the runner-up. Despite Razavi having 80% of the chips at one point, Kern managed to come from behind and eventually had his opponent down to only 11 million, when all the money went in.

With this score, Arne multiplied his total earnings by 20 as he only had about $50K in live cashes prior to this event. According to the young student/poker pro, this win will probably make it easier to decide about his future plans: “I've been playing for about five years,” he told WSOP, “and this might change my decision.”
