Anton Morgenstern takes down A$25,000 PLO Event at the Aussie Millions

The German beat Colombia's Farid Jattin heads-up to take home A$530,640.

"From almost bubbling to winning it, that's pretty good!"

Ain't no rest for the gamblers at Melbourne, as the 2019 Aussie Millions is still at full speed. The latest champion "down under" is German pro, Anton Morgenstern, who took down the A$25K PLO event, after outlasting a field of 67 entries.

Hungarian online crusher András "probirs" Németh started the final day as the chip leader with only 16 players left, but unfortunately for him, he quickly doubled up two of his peers and found himself on the verge of elimination.

However, he managed to climb back and reached the second position by the first break only behind Jattin. But András eventually had to settle for 10th place, after losing another big pot and left the tournament empty-handed.

"probirs" couldn't get things going his way

At this point, Max Lehmanski lead the field, and it didn't take long for the final 9 to reduce to 8. Christian Heich left in 9th place without any prize. The players reached the money after the bust out of Rory Rees and Takashi Ogura, meaning all players would walk away with at least A$96,480 in their pocket.

US pro, Alex Foxen was the first casualty in the money, receiving the min-cash for his efforts. After the players returned from the break, Lehmanski departed. The German added A$112,560 to his bankroll.

Tobias Ziegler then sent the last-standing Australian, Daniel Demicki to the rail, keeping the pace with Jattin, while Morgenstern was in the third position. Daniel earned A$176,880 for finishing 4th.

Anton was lucky enough to witness the elimination of Ziegler's who lost with a pair and a flush draw against the wrap of Jattin's. The German walked away with an A$225,120 score to his name.

Despite starting the final table with a sizeable lead, Jattin wasn't able to close out the tournament, as he lost two big hands to Morgenstern, the latter meaning victory for the German. He busted the Colombian with a full house to take down the title, the ANTON Championship Ring and the A$530,640 first prize. Farid received an A$337,680 for finishing as the runner-up.

"From almost bubbling to winning it, that's pretty good!" said Morgenstern after his win. "For the last three years, Omaha has been pretty much my main game."

"I went into the heads-up match honestly expecting to just get second and be happy with it. But sometimes the cards just come your way and you fight back. "When we finally got even in chips he was asking for a deal, and I declined...and flopped a full house the next hand!"
