WSOP $50K PPC gets down to final 12, Ivey in the lead
A handful of mixed-game specialist remained in the most prestigious WSOP event.
Day3 has ended at the $50,000 Poker Players Championship (Event #58) with the legendary Phil Ivey on the top of the leaderboard.
Ivey bagged 4,775,000 chips and awaits the final two days with big ambitions of winning his 11th gold bracelet. However, he'll need to outlast a star-studded field as all of his opponents are seasoned mixed-game specialists.
Phil is followed by a fellow pro, Josh Arieh, who ended with 4,029,000 and Shaun Deeb, who will return with a 2.45 million stack. The shortest stacks are Dan "Jungleman12" Cates and Andrew Brown, they have 319,000 and 210,000 respectively.
Several big names fell during day three, including Timofey "Trueteller" Kuznetsov, who failed to outlast fellow short stacks Cates and Brown and busted in 14th place, only 2 spots away from the min-cash of $72,078. Many other notables busted yesterday, with the likes of former champions, John Hennigan (2014), and Matt Ashton (2013) or Jason Mercier, Robert Mizrachi, Phil Galfond, Brian Hastings, or John Monnette.
Players will return on Thursday 27th June, and they'll play until the final six. The tournament will conclude on Friday when the champion will be rewarded with $1,099,311 and the gold bracelet.
