Sami Kelopuro wins $1.3 million in eight hours

The Finnish online legend booked the huge win at the $100/$200 PLO tables on partypoker.

Sami Kelopuro is a familiar name for all of the poker fans, who used to rail the nosebleed games during the golden days of online poker. He was a regular in the $500/$1,000 PLO games on Full Tilt Poker, battling against the likes of Phil Ivey, Patrik Antonius or Tom 'durrrr' Dwan. Unlike them, Kelopuro sticks to the virtual felt and has been playing the highest stakes online games since then.

According to numerous high-stakes online specialists, he regularly grinds the high-roller tournaments on GGPoker. This time, however, he played a heads-up PLO cash game session on partypoker, where - as he discussed on his blog - he bumped into a wealthy "fish".

The two started playing and the action got pretty aggressive right away with several 5- or even 6-bet pots, including a huge $227,005.57 pot where Sami rolled over aces over kings to take down the money.

According to 'LarsLuzak' his opponent kept reloading for $20,000 every few minutes like it was nothing and was eventually flipping with any four. After an 8-hour-long session, his opponent finally quieted, leaving the Finnish pro with a $1.4 million stack which meant a $1.3 million profit for him.

While this win represented the best day for him this year (his last 8-figure day coming from 2009), Kelopuro's been going pretty strong this year. On August 11, he took down five tournaments with $5,000+ buy-in for a total of $400K, while also finished second in three events.

As his total profit reaches $2.5 million this year, Sami will certainly be grinding the upcoming $30 Million KO Series on partypoker, or the $50 Million Good Game Series on GGPoker.
