Jakub Oliva takes down WSOP International Circuit Main Event

The Czech grinder took home €205,000 and kept the golden ring in the country for at least six more months.

The WSOP International Circuit Main Event at the King's Resort, Rozvadov is in the books with Jakub Oliva taking down the title. The event generated a total of 768 entries, including the 55 online entries at partypoker, all aiming at the €205,000 top prize and the prestigious golden ring coming with it.

But only 77 of them walked away with a prize after the bubble burst at the end of Day 2. This obviously sped up the pace of the action and the short stacks started to get their chips into the middle. Some of them managed to double up but many fell.

The eight-handed final table started with Oliva and Israeli Shay Rozenbaum as the chip leaders and they used their big stacks to put maximum pressure on their opponents. Despite their aggressive style, it took two hours for the first player to bust.

It was Austria's Daniel Wendorf who eventually had to settle for eighth place, which was good for €21,200 and a €10,350 worth WSOPE Main Event Ticket this time.

He was followed by Alois Sprachta, who exited in 7th place adding €31,000 to his bankroll and a Main Event ticket on the side. Poland's Grzegorz Wyraz was next to go, after failing to recover from a big loss with jacks against kings. Wyraz's 6th place earned him €42,000.

Rozenbaum and Russia's Aliaksandr Shylko followed the Polish player on his way to the cage, to pick up €54,000 and €68,500 respectively.

Andrei Makavets was busted by Toon Hanot when the former shoved with nine-seven which was not enough against the ace-six of Hanot's.

The final hand

The heads-up play only lasted for about 15 minutes. Hanot held jack-eight in the final hand, while Oliva had jack-ten. The money went in on the turn, on a board that read T-T-7-8. Hanot had a gut-shot to keep his hopes alive, but a completely blank three of diamonds hit the river, meaning Jakub became the champion.

He took home €205,000 and the golden ring for his performance, while Toon added €123,500 to his bankroll for finishing as the runner-up.
