The biggest tournament ever played is returning in 2018 in its original format.

The poker world was pretty excited when Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberté announced the $1 million Big One for One Drop tournament back in 2012. A buy-in of this size was certainly something most of the community didn't think was realistic until it finally happened. Professional players and recreationals also joined the field hoping for a huge payday while also helping those in need in form of their $111,111 "rake" directly donated to One Drop Foundation of Guy's.

Seasoned pro Antonio Esfandiari famously took down the first tournament after defeating Sam Tricket and took the first place on the all time money list with a $18,346,673 score. The second One Drop tournament was organized in 2014 making online phenome Dan "mrGR33N13" Colman well known in the poker scene.The third champion of the event was entreprenuer and semi-pro Elton Tsang who won the inivitational version of the tournament for €11,111,111 in Monaco.
The organizers plan to return to the original format next year, allowing professionals to join the action. There will be a cap at 48 players which was quickly reduced to 47 after the first player - King's Casino owner Leon Tsoukernik - announced to play. Many people believe that the tournament - especially with the charitable aspect - should have no cap. What do you think?
