Brian Rast wins fourth WSOP bracelet in the $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw Championship

Despite all eyes being on living legend Doyle Brunson in the final WSOP even in his life, Rast stole the show. Household names of the old- and new-school all represented themselves at the star-studded final table.

Guys like Las Vegas cash game regular, John Hennigan, high-roller player Dario Sammartino or the "Godfather of Poker" himself, the great Doyle Brunson all made the final table at the $10K event.

The tournament attracted 95 players, who created a prize pool of $893,000. The top 15 spots were paid, with $260K going for the winner's way. The first player to bust in the money was Benjamin Yu, who fell right before $10,000 Omaha Hi/Lo 8 or Better Championship Event champ, Paul Volpe [3].

Many seasoned pros came close to the final table, with Robert Mizrachi finishing 13th, Galen Hall 11th and another member of the "Brunson-clan", Todd 10th. Doyle was certainly the biggest attraction at the final table, getting a round of applause from the rail after each pot he dragged. Even Rast, who battles regularly against "Texas Dolly" in the high-stakes cash games in Las Vegas, has a tremendous amount of respect for the living legend:

"I could still take a step back and appreciate from the poker world's perspective. He's played high-stakes poker longer than anyone. He's an icon, he's a legend. I could really appreciate from that perspective how special it is."

Brunson climbed up the ladder all the way up to third in chips but eventually had to settle for 6th, after losing his final pot to James Alexander. Shawn Sheikhan followed Doyle on his way out. The infamous trash talker got 5th for $59,559.

James Alexander busted at 4th place for $81,986, leaving Sammartino, Wattel and Rast 3-handed.

The experience coming from playing the $2,000/$4,000 and the $3,000/$6,000 cash games - where the deuce game is one of the regular formats in the mix - secured Rast the title and his 4th bracelet, but even he admits there is a long way for him to live up to the legacy of Doyle Brunson.
