Moorman Takes Down 16th Triple Crown

Chris ‘moorman1’ Moorman won multi-table tournaments in three different poker rooms in recent days, further improving his record of Triple Crown titles held.

British poker ace Chris ‘moorman1’ Moorman holds two major online MTT records: first, he is the one to win the most in online tournaments in poker history and, second, he acquired PocketFives’ Triple Crown title the most frequently. He passed the $10 million lifetime winnings milestone in late September and he once again broke his own record of Triple Crown titles just recently.

High Stakes Fraud Revelaed, PS Holds Back Cheater Screen Names

PokerStars has recently revealed a high stakes fraud and returned a total of $50,000 to players who got cheated. Many still complain about the room unwilling to publish the screen name/s of the cheater/s.

PokerStars has always been famous for working hard on stopping and preventing scams and they regularly bust multi-accounting players, collision and other forms of fraud. Victims tend to get reimbursed for their losses but the site keeps withholding the screen names of the cheaters and they also refuse to reveal the method to calculate reimbursement.

EPT London High Roller 2013 - Germans Dominate the Finale

Three German players made it to the very top of the European Poker Tour (EPT) London 2013 Super High Roller leaderboard. Martin Finger won the event, Tobias Reinkemeier ran 2nd and Christoph Vogelsang finished 3rd.

On Day 3 of this year’s EPT London £50,000 Super High Roller event, the eight-handed finale took place with WSOP and EPT title holder Martin Finger in a major chiplead. Other renowned pros like Patrik Antonius, Tobias Reinkemeier and November Nine member David Benefield accompanied him at the Final Table.

George Lind III Collects 1.2 Million VPPs in September

American SNG specialist George Lind III is currently standing at 3.6 million VPPs this year in total, breaking Björn ‘bjoerni89’ Schneider’s record from 2011.

To say that George ‘Jorj95’ Lind III has a busy September behind him is a major understatement. The PokerStars Team Online pro has accumulated a whopping amount of VPPs, 1,212,607 to be precise. This alone is enough to reach the SuperNova Elite level. ‘Jorj95’ casually tweeted his results:

EPT London Kicks Off with Super High Roller Event

Today, on 4 October, the first event of the European Poker Tour (EPT) London stop launches: the £50,000 Super High Roller Re-Entry tournament. On Sunday, the Main Event also kicks off.

With EPT Barcelona, the 10th season of the single largest poker series in Europe kicked off in August. Today, the second stop starts with one of its highlight events, the £50,000 Super High Roller 8-Handed (Unlimited Re-Entry). Day 1 starts at 15:30 CET and the Final Table takes place on Sunday, 6 October, the same day the £5,250 Main Event starts. Both events will be streamed live online, except for Main Event Day 1A, which collides with the Super High Roller finale.

Daniel ‘jungleman12’ Cates won around $200,000 from Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan in 1,485 hands. Meanwhile, Doug ‘WCGRider’ Polk leads has built $600,000 in profits in their sessions with Ben ‘Sauce’ Sulsky with just 1,427 hands left to go.

In July, Daniel ‘jungleman12’ Cates announced that they had agreed with Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan to resume the Durrrr Challenge 2.

“Regarding the durrrr challenge, we agreed to play a min of 4k hands/month, and then 8k hands every 2 months afterwards. If we dont play 4k hands a month in august, then restrictions will be made. I guess restrictions means scheduled times, penalties for not complying...” he posted back then.

On 1 October, the last events of this year’s online world championship ended. WCOOP 2013 featured the second biggest prize pool of the history of the series: players amassed $62,840,167 in prize money in the 66 events, only slightly less than the record amount of $63,157,150 in 2010.

US Players Spend $2.6 Billion on Online Poker in 2012 Despite Ban

According to H2 Gambling Capital, US players spent $2.6 billion on online poker last year, despite the fact the games is legally available in three states only.

Even though 15 April, 2011, or the Black Friday of online poker brought an end to the game in the United States in theory, a survey conducted by H2 Gambling Capital reveals that US players still make up a significant percentage of the global gaming field. According to the study, US citizens spent $2.6 billion on online poker last year, which is only a 7% drop compared to 2011. 8% of the global market is currently constituted by US players.

On 29 September, the last tournaments in this year’s WCOOP schedule launched, including the $5,200 Main Event. With 2,133 entrants, a prize pool of $10,665,000 was built and the first prize was set at $1,877,573. 296 players qualified for Day 2 on Monday, where they played for the 243 paying finishes.

On Blind Level 12,500/50,000/100,000, the nine-handed final table was formed, featuring the winner of a total of $3.8 million in online MTTs, PokerStars Pro Shane ‘shaniac’ Schleger, as well as FTOPS champion ‘Vampyboy’, SCOOP title holder ‘alexandrapau’, Sunday 500 winner ‘Pokerl)eviL’ and Super Tuesday winner ‘Allanon85’. ‘SwissCantMis’, ‘flippertyflop’, ‘PlayinWasted’ and ‘1M.BanKroLL’ joined them in the finale.

Chris ‘moorman1’ Moorman has finally hit the $10 million milestone in online multi-table tournament winnings after he took down a $215 NLHE tournament.

Already on 23 September, Chris ‘moorman1’ Moorman got close to be the first player in poker history to reach the $10 million milestone in lifetime online MTT winnings: he was a mere $23,362 short of the record amount. Last Saturday, the British pro accomplished the task by winning a $215 NLHE tournament for $9,651 at PartyPoker, among several other minor results.

In the first two session of the 15,000 hands heads-up challenge, Doug ‘WCGRider’ Polk built a major lead against Ben ‘Sauce’ Sulsky, winning $227,000 in the first and $167,000 in the second game. While the third session saw Sulsky emerge victorious with $97,000 in profits, their latest clash brought about Polk’s victory once again.

The Poker Night in America TV show is currently being shot with some of the biggest names in poker, to restore the popularity of the game in the United States. While the first episodes are to hit the TV screen in 2014, producers of the show have already started a powerful marketing campaign to popularise the series. The several promotional materials published include the one below, where Mike ‘The Mouth’ Matusow is put through some difficult poker moments: first, his pocket queens meet aces, and then Shaun Deeb slowrolls him with a four of a kind. Needless to say, Matusow lost it completely over the incident.

Durrrr Loses Well Over $2 Million in Single Session?

Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan has recently been the victim of several attacks from the poker community. First, the US high stakes player agreed to continue the challenge against Daniel ‘jungleman12’ Cates but failed to live up to it, travelling instead to Macau to play live high stakes cash games. In July, he posted a statement, arguing that multi-accounting was not in fact cheating, rather mere angle shooting. An unwise move from a sponsored pro, his arguments caused quite a stir and his explanations just worsened the situation.

Negreanu Rants on Rule 29 Once More

Apparently, Daniel Negreanu has not yet gotten over what happened in the EPT Barcelona High Roller event earlier this year. In his latest video blog, he is once again ranting on Rule #29.

You may remember Daniel Negreanu’s outrage over the enforcement of TDA Rule #29 during this year’s EPT Barcelona €10,000 High Roller event, as well as his self-inflicted elimination from the event. The PokerStars Pro went completely mad over the implementation of the Tournament Directors Association’s “first card off the deck” rule, which he found unfair.
