Dan Smith takes down WPT Five Diamond Super High Roller for $1.4 Million

The $100,000 event, held in the Bellagio, attracted 39 players, generating a prize pool of $3.9 million.

Some pretty numbers to look at

The higher the buy-in the better the players as they say. The $100k SHR certainly brought the attention of many of the top-notch players. The final table of the tournament was also filled with big-name pros like Daniel Negreanu, Isaac Haxton, Stefan Schillhabel or Sergio Aido. The tournament was closed after the field reduced to 5 players. Bryn Kenney finished 6th for $234,000.

Great at poker great at coverage

The rest returned the next day, all looking to take down the title and the $1.4 million first prize - the chip lead belonged to Haxton. Sergio Aido was the first to be busted this day, finishing 5th for $312,000. Former chip leader Isaac got 4th for $390,000 while Germany's Stefan Schillhabel earned $624,000 for finishing 3rd. The last remaining two in the competition were Dan Smith and Daniel Negreanu. Daniel was kind enough to live report the final table on his Twitter-feed to make sure the fans get all the updates.

Unfortunatelly for him, Dan was lucky enough to hit a gut-shot straight draw against Daniel's top pair.

The last hand

Daniel eventually got second for $936,000 while, Dan won the tournament for the title and $1,404,000. The ladder now has more than $19 million in live tournament earnings while Daniel sits on top of the list with $35 million.
