Olivier Busquet reflects on the controversial t-shirt incident at the EPT

Olivier Busquet, winner of the €50,000 Super High Roller at European Poker Tour Barcelona, shared his opinion regarding the controversial t-shirt wearing incident that has sparked a heated discussion in the media and on the poker forums.

As we have reported, Olivier Busquet and Daniel Colman caused a lot of controversy at the EPT Barcelona Super High Roller by wearing t-shirts that said "Save Gaza" and "Free Palestine" respectively.

Now Olivier has stated in an interview, that his wife usually picks out his outfits for televised final tables, but Colman suggested that they wore the t-shirts. Busquet's original reaction was to decline the offer, but Colman persuaded him and Busquet wanted to show him support by wearing the t-shirt, so he eventually agreed to wear it.

Busquet stated that he wanted to show compassion and empathy with Gaza, but admitted that even though he cares about the issue, he's not an expert on it.

Interestingly, Busquet states that this was a specific attempt to bring politics into the poker world. He didn't expect the reaction to be this huge, but he thinks it's worth having a conversation about whether this is an appropriate for a player to do.
