Sam Greenwood Beats Online Beast for the PCA $100K SHR Title

Sam scooped $1,775,460 after taking down the first $100K event of the year.

The $100,000 Super High Roller came to its end at this year's PCA, with high-roller crusher, Sam Greenwood raising the trophy. The event attracted the best no-limit hold'em tournament players, who created a total of 61 entries (18 re-entries included) for a $5,918,220 prize pool.

As usual, when the stakes are this big, the field of the tournament was filled with the toughest pros, but only 8 of them made the money this time. Fellow high-roller specialist, Stephen Chidwick was the first to depart from the final table, to collect his well-earned $236,720 at the cage just a few days after claiming 3rd place and $423K in a $50K Event.

Stephen was followed by Germany's Steffen Sontheimer. This $301,820 prize was not the first cash for Steffen at the PCA either, he finished 7th in the $50K high-roller for $152,120. Steffen has more than $4 million reasons to love the Bahamas, as he took down Partypoker [4]'s $250,000 Super High Roller in November for $3.68 million.

Russia's Igor Kurganov was next to leave. His 6th-place finish worthed $378,760 this time for the most winningest Russian.

The five-handed play saw Sam with the 4th biggest stack, but his 70 big blinds gave him plenty of room to maneuver. He was able to take down the first three pots of the day, tripling his stack in the process. He took down a huge pot against Chris Hunichen with aces against ace-king, which helped a lot.

Greenwood then went on to bust UK's Talal Shakerchi, who's having quite a PCA, adding another $485,300 to his $509,000 winnings from the Players Championship.

Online pro turned live tournament regular, Chris "Big Huni" Hunichen exited in 4th place and added $627,340 to his live tournament earnings, which now stand at $4,397,230.

The heads-up between Sam and Henrik

Sam's good run continued during the three-handed period when he flopped a straight against a middle set of lesser-known Jesus Cortes. Cortes called off three streets against Sam, putting his last chips into the middle on the river. The Spaniard took home $828,560 which is his biggest-ever score and has now $1,656,761 in total live tournament earnings.

The heads-up started with Sam holding a 10-1 lead over Henrik "hhecklen" Hecklen, who couldn't overcome the huge chip deficit and the tournament ended shortly.

The Canadian booked his 7th seven-figure payday in form of the $1,775,460 prize, while Denmark's Hecklen added $1.28 million to his bankroll.
