WSOP Main Event Champion Scott Blumstein Was Fedor Holz's First Podcast Guest

Fedor Holz debuted his podcast in style, with the current WSOP Main Event champion Scott Blumstein less than a month after the New Jersey man claimed the most coveted title in poker [3]. The collaboration between the two is nothing new, Blumstein wore the badge of Holz's new mind coaching company Primed at the Main Event final table. The two touched on a variety of subjects including Blumstein's early days in poker, how mind coaching helped him and which celebrities congratulated him on his big WSOP win.

Fedor Holz has cut down on his poker action significantly for the year 2017, at this point he plays smaller-field high rollers almost exclusively - he himself describes it as "retirement", although to be fair it's far from that. He played in the Aria Super High Roller Bowl back in May and the Trinton Super High Roller in Macau in July.

He did shift his focus on his start-up mind coaching company Primed, however - a company that was advertised on the eventual winner Scott Blumstein's shirt during the WSOP Main Event final table. On the company's YouTube channel Holz tried himself out in another new role, podcaster. He interviewed the aforementioned Blumstein.

Blumstein told Holz he went to college to study accounting, something he regrets - if he were to choose a major now, it would be psychology, he told. He wasn't attending classes regularly but luckily his parents were lenient enough to allow him to eventually drop out and pursue his career in poker. His first infatuation with the game came when he watched the 2004 WSOP Main Event on TV in a hotel room in Florida with his family. Little could he have known back then that he'll live through what Greg Raymer did in 2004.

He talked about the time he struggled with online poker, making barely enough to get by. Blumstein claims what really helped him is putting his ego aside and taking the advise of better poker players - he thinks small ego is common characteristic of great poker pros.

Blumstein told Holz that he sought help from mind coach Elliot Roe during the Main Event and the positive experience with him made him decide on taking Holz's mind coaching company's sponsorship deal for the ME final even though he was offered more money from other companies. After he won the World Championship of poker he received congratulatory private messages on Twitter from rapper Mac Miller and comedian Norm Macdonald. The latter, the comedian Blumstein was a big fan of all his life and an in-person meetup has already been arranged in LA. Since avid gambler Macdonald himself has a WSOP cash from the 2007 $3K NHLE event we can be assured some cards are going to be dealt.
