Daniel "mrGR33N13" Colman wins WPT Alpha8 London for $957,000

Daniel Colman is the nightmare of every player who plays the high roller and super high roller events, he seemingly wins every big buy-in tournament that he plays. This time, he beat a star-studded final table with players like Sam Trickett, Isaac Haxton and Christoph Vogelsang to claim the 600,000 GBP first prize at the WPT Alpha8 event in London.

The WPT Alpha8 London started this Monday with a 60,000 GBP buy-in. 17 players entered, and there were 6 re-entries also. Elior Sion, Dan "jungleman12" Cates, Max Altergott and Jean-Noel Thorel busted during Day 1, and Stephen Chidwick, Erik Seidel, Philipp Gruissem, Faisal Alfalasi, Fabian Quoss and Igor Kurganov busted before the final table on Day 2.

The final table started with the following players and stacks:

Seat 1. Dan Colman - 421.500

Seat 2. Vladimir Troyanovskiy - 232.000

Seat 3. Sorel Mizzi - 93.000

Seat 4. Sam Trickett - 203.500

Seat 5. Christoph Vogelsang - 220.500

Seat 6. Max Altergott - 178.500

Seat 7. Talal Shakerchi - 615.500

Seat 8. Isaac Haxton - 305.500

The first player to bust was Sam Trickett, during the 12th blind level (2,500-5,000) he raised to 12,000 then went all-in after Shakerchi re-raised to 33,000. Shakerchi snapcalled with AA while Trickett had the AK suited. Trickett caught some hope on the K43 flop, but ultimately failed to improve on the 4 turn and the 6 river.

The next player to bust was Christoph Vogelsang, he went all-in with AK, got called by Sorel Mizzi's QJ and was eliminated when Mizzi hit a jack.

The sixth place finisher was Vladimir Troyanovskiy, he ran his A9 into Shakerchi's AQ. Sorel Mizzi ended up as the bubble boy, he went all-in with QT suited, but was called by Daniel Colman's KQ and failed to improve on the K-J-3-4-Q board.

After the bubble burst, Haxton busted in 4th place after running KQ suited into Shakerchi's KK.

Three handed play started with Dan Colman as the chipleader, he had about twice the chips of Shakerchi and Altergott, who were almost even.

Shakerchi busted during the 17th blind level (8,000/16,000), he shoved with 300,000 against Daniel Colman's raise, Colman snapcalled with QQ. Shakerchi showed the A6 offsuit and failed to improve on the 7-4-2-K-2 board.

The heads up started with Colman having around 1.6 million chips, while Altergott had 687,000. The lead was exchanged a couple of times, and during level 19 (12,000/24,000) they decided to increase the blinds to decide the match faster. They continued with 50,000/100,000 blinds, Colman had about 1.4 million while Altergott had 687,000.

Altergott managed to pull ahead, but then lost an A8vsKJ all-in for most of his chips. He managed to double with A8vsK4 a couple hands later, but was unable to win the next all-in, his K4 failed to hold up against Colman's J8 on the Q85A9 board.

With that, Daniel Colman won 600,000 GBP, which is roughly $957,000. With that result, he has increased his yearly winnings to $22 million, having won the WSOP Big One for One drop ($15.3 million), the EPT Grand Final High Roller ($2.1 million), the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open ($1.44 million) as well as finishing second in the EPT Barcelona Super High Roller ($1.1 million) and a third place in the Aria $100,000 Super High Roller ($796,000). Colman's unreal run at the tables in 2014 has been discussed plenty of times before, and there are still plenty of tournaments this year where he could continue racking up results.
