EPT 11 Grand Final - Mustapha Kanit wins €50,000 Super High Roller for €936,500
Mustapha Kanit defeated an incredibly strong final table that included Mike Watson, Martin Finger, Fedor "CrownUpGuy" Holz, Fabian Quoss, Scott Seiver and Mark Teltscher on his way to winning €936,500, the biggest score of his career.
The €50,000 Super High Roller was organized with a turbo structure, the blind levels were cut in half to 30 minutes, and players received a 200,000 starting stack instead of the ususal 250,000.
By the end of registration there were 66 entries, creating a prize pool of more than €3.2 million, with €936,500 going to the winner.
The best 9 positions were paid, and Vladimir Troyanovskiy finished as the bubble boy, which is pretty brutal considering he bubbled the final table in the €100,000 Super High Roller with A-A against K-K (at least there he cashed for €199,620).
The final table started with the following stacks and seating:
Seat 1. Mark Teltscher - 690.000
Seat 2. Mike Watson - 2.000.000
Seat 3. Andrei Streltsou - 1.400.000
Seat 4. Ivan Luca - 890.000
Seat 5. Fedor Holz - 2.625.000
Seat 6. Scott Seiver - 525.000
Seat 7. Fabian Quoss - 710.000
Seat 8. Martin Finger - 475.000
Seat 9. Mustapha Kanit - 3.800.000
The first player to bust was Scott Seiver, he shoved with a short stack and K-T and was called by both Kanit and Finger, who both showed Q-Q. The 9-9-6-8-J board was no help to Seiver and he was sent packing in 9th.
Ivan Luca finished in 8th place, his A-5 couldn't improve against Holz's AQ. He was soon followed by Mark Teltscher, who called all-in with K-T against Mustapha Kanit's small blind shove.
Kanit only had 9-2 offsuit, but managed to hit a 9 to eliminate the EPT London champ.
Andrei Streltsou finished in 6th place and Fabian Quoss finished in 5th after losing with K-Q against Mike Watson's T-9 in a preflop all-in.
During Level 23 (80k/160k-20k) Holz shoved all-in for roughly 1 million chips and Watson called.
Holz: A-7
Watson: Q-T
The board ran out T-8-2-T-3 and the 2014 WCOOP Main Event champion was eliminated in fourth.
Heads-up play started after the elimination of Martin Finger, he shoved his short stack with 4-4, Mustapha Kanit called with A-5 and hit an ace to send the young German to the rail.
Mike Watson - 9.500.000
Mustapha Kanit - 3.700.000
Kanit quickly doubled up after winning an A-K vs. K-Q preflop all-in, then took over the lead after winning a big pot.
In the final hand, Watson shoved for 2 million chips (Level 24, 100k/200k-30k ante) with K-5, Kanit called with K-7 and made trips on the 7-7-6-3-T board.
Kanit won €936,500, which is the biggest score of his career, previously his biggest score was a fourth place finish in the 2014 PCA $25,500 High Roller for $492,600.
Final table results:
1. Mustapha Kanit - €936.500
2. Mike Watson - €672.300
3. Martin Finger - €437.000
4. Fedor Holz - €329.800
5. Fabian Quoss - €256.100
6. Andrei Streltsou - €198.500
7. Mark Teltscher - €156.900
8. Ivan Luca - €121.700
9. Scott Seiver - €92.860
