Global Poker League schedule released - Finale to take place in Wembley

The GPL will play out in four phases: Regular Season, Summer Series, Playoffs and Finals. Alex Dreyfus, the founder of the GPL plans to fill the Wembley for the finale of the poker championship.

The first season of the Global Poker League (GPL) will begin next Tuesday. Most of the teams are already complete, except for the Montreal Nationals, New York Rounders, Los Angeles Sunset and Hong Kong Stars.

The full schedule for the first season of the GPL was recently released, the season will run between April 5 - November 23.

GPL Regular Season: April 5 - September 22

The GPL Regular Season will run in two groups, Eurasia and America. The Regular Season will be conducted online and on the opening day players will play 6-Max games.

There are going to be three battles every week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

''When a new sport on concept enters the market, it's sensible to steer away from competition. Sports events are generally broadcast on the weekends so we decided to organize the events for Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, when the offering is much smaller and there are less bets being made.'' - said Alex Dreyfus.

All events will be broadcast live on Twitch and Poker Central (aswell as DouyU.com).

GPL Summer Series: June 6 - July 8

The summer events of the GPL will run in Las Vegas during the WSOP. The Summer Series is made up of heads-up events which will be recorded in the studios of MediaRex, the company behind the League.

GPL Playoffs: exact date to be announced

The best 8 teams will advance to the Playoffs and a further four teams will be eliminated.

GPL Finals: November 22-23

The four remaining teams will battle in a two-day finale to decide the championship title in the SSE Arena (next to the legendary Wembley). According to the news the event will be more than a poker events, there will be a big show that is also interesting to people who are not poker fans.

Dreyfus hopes to fill the whole stadium with the help of the Hendon Mob and the MediaRex family, both of which have strong roots in London.
