High Stakes January - Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies wins $598,000, Isildur1 drops $1.2 million

Ilari Sahamies, who plays on PokerStars under the nickname "Ilari FIN", made the most money in January at the high stakes cash game tables with $598,000 in winnings. The high stakes games are now mostly running on PokerStars, only two Full Tilt players made the top 10 in the profit list.

The online high stakes cash game battles started a little slow in 2015, there was not much action in the first few weeks, and even when there was, it wasn't running on Full Tilt, which has established itself as the home of the high stakes games.

It seems like the departure of Gus Hansen and Viktor "Isildur1" Blom from Full Tilt dried up the games, most of the games that ran did so on PokerStars.

The biggest winner of the month was Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies. The high stakes legend didn't play much at the highest limits, but he returned with a bang this year, he played 14.429 hands and won $598.118.

He won all his money in Pot Limit Omaha, where he won $620,526 in 9.665 hands but lost a little in other game formats.

The second on the monthly leaderboard is Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky, who won $362,000 in 14.731 hands. He was mostly active at the 8-game tables, he made $399,000 in 8,941 hands.

Faith#1Virtu finished in third place on the leaderboard with $319,000 in profits (13,119 hands), he exclusively played at the PLO tables.

The best Full Tilt finisher was Patriktortonius, who only played 1.350 hands, but this was enough to won $307,000.

The biggest loser of the month was Viktor "Isildur1" Blom, who lost $773,000 on Full Tilt and an additional $400,000 on PokerStars for a total loss of almost $1.2 million.

The biggest won pot of the month went to Ravenswood13 and happened at the $200/$400 PLO 6 max tables when he stacked EireAbu.

In the hand EireAbu minraised the button to $800 and Ravenswood13 3bet to $2,400 then flatcalled EireAbu's 4bet of $6,200. On the flop of J-6-K (two diamonds) Ravenswood13 checked, EireAbu bet $6,000 and Ravenswood13 called.

Things started to get interesting when the Ace of diamonds hit the turn, Ravenswood13 check/raised to $24,410 after EireAbu bet $4,000. EireAbu called and called Ravenswood13's bet of $73,219 when the 7 of diamonds hit the river.

Ravenswood13 showed down Q-9-7-T with two diamonds for the nut flush and scooped the $219,660 pot.
