Incredibly strong final table at the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star Main Event
The $7.500 WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star produced one of the strongest final tables ever, with players like Isaac "westmenloAA" Baron, Taylor "taypaur" Paur, Jacob "bazeman11" Bazeley, Faraz "The-Toilet 0" Jaka and Sorel "zangbezan24" Mizzi competing for the $1.214.200 first prize.
The WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star Main Event started on March 9 and a total of 708 players entered during the two starting days, which created a prize pool of $5.026.800.
36 players started Day 3 of the tournament and the remaining players included Sorel Mizzi, Toby Lewis, Isaac Baron, Shawn Buchanan, Faraz Jaka, Byron Kaverman, Chris Moorman, Taylor Paur, Jacob Bazeley and Ari Engel.
The first player to bust was David Miscikowski, he was followed by Gordon Vayo, Kumar Sripadam, Danny Wong, Griffin Paul, Tom Dobrilovic, Abe Abukhalil, Paul Richardson, Garrett Greer, Steve Brecher, Ted Bui, Oliver Price, Mike McClain, Ki Nam, Chane Kampanatsanyakorn and Michael Loncer.
A previous EPT champion, Shawn Buchanan was eliminated in 20th place after his K-K failed to hold up against Isaac Baron's 5-5. The two players got the money in preflop and Baron made a flush on the 9-9-3-T-J board.
Toby Lewis busted in 19th and Chris Moorman (one of the so called Shooting Stars in the field) followed him in 18th, after his A-3 failed to hold up against Haixia Zhang's J-T, who also received a $2.500 bounty for busting the online tournament legend.
Barry Hutter busted in 17th place, he was soon followed by Ari Engel, Byron Kaverman, Giacomo Fundaro, Ryan Julius, Justin Kindred, Quan Tran, Ron Lewis and Imad Allahham.
Eric Werner finished as the final table bubble, he shoved his less than 2,5 big blind stack over Taylor Paur's raise and was called by both him, Mizzi and Bazeley. Bazeley showed down A-2 after calling two of Mizzi's bets on the A-9-4-2-3 board and his opponents mucked.
The final table lineup is one of the strongest in WPT history, all of the players besides Ravee Mathi are considered top tournament professionals.
