Let’s See the 2010 Poker Hall of Fame Nominees!

As I have mentioned in a previous post, the 2010 Nominees of the Poker Hall of Fame have been chosen by public voting. The ten-name list did not bring real surprises.
This is the second time that the nominees have been chosen by public voting. The list was made official yesterday.

Below you can view Mike Sexton’s induction into the Poker Hall of Fame from last year.

The 2010 Nominees are as follows:

Chris Ferguson
Barry Greenstein
Jennifer Harman
Dan Harrington
Phil Ivey
Linda Johnson
Tom McEvoy
Daniel Negreanu
Scotty Nguyen
Erik Seidel

Basically, every single nominee would be eligible for the Hall of Fame, since all these players have amazing results to prove they are worthy for the title. What surprised me is, that last year we only had male players competing for the title, now we can see two females nominated as well.

Jennifer Harman is definitely one of the most successful female players, with two WSOP bracelets and live career winnings exceeding $2.6 million. She is frequently seen in cash games as well, and is a returning guest at Bobby’s Room in Las Vegas.

Linda Johnson is also a magnificent poker player, although she doesn’t have as many results as Jennifer does. Johnson, however, has done other things to be proud of: being the first lady of poker, she is acclaimed for being a ‘background worker’ in the poker world. She is one of the CardPlayer Magazine founders and also took part in founding the Tournament Directors Association and the PokerGives.org charity foundation. She also works as a consultant for the WPT series.

The younger nominees are 4-time WSOP champion Daniel Negreanu and 8-time winner Phil Ivey, together aging 70, which almost matches the age of the two doyens, Tom McEnvoy and Dan Harrington, separately. It would be surprising if one of the younger players won, as they will probably have plenty more nominations in the future.

The ones to decide on the winner will be living members of the Poker Hall of Fame and other media personalities. Induction will happen in November, at the time of the WSOP Final Table, in the form of an official induction ceremony. Voting will take place on the 13th September.
