Matthias Eibinger takes down EPT Prague €50,000 Super High Roller
Eibinger beat online high-stakes crusher thanks to a lucky final hand.
The event with the biggest buy-in at this year's EPT Prague generated 40 entries, to create a prize pool of €1,920,600. The top six spots walked away with a prize, with the champion receiving a €653,000 paycheck.
Some of the biggest names of the game have gathered to try their luck, but many of them fell before reaching the money. Thomas Muehloecker, Orpen Kisacikoglu, Daniel Dvoress, Timothy Adams, Sam Greenwood, and Steve O'Dwyer all busted empty-handed. Unlike them, aspiring poker coach, Charlie Carrel and Luc Greenwood both showed a profit, after busting in 6th and 5th place for €134,440 and €172,850 respectively.
Only four players returned to the final day, all guaranteed for at least a €220,870 payday. It was Moldova's most winningest player, Pavel Plesuv who busted first after losing his last chips with Ace-king against the Ace-ten of András Németh in a preflop all-in confrontation.
Németh used his commanding lead to put pressure on his opponents and eventually busted China's Liang Xu with 9-8 against Q-8 thanks to spiking a nine on the river. Xu walked away with a €288,090 prize.
András takes the bad beat with class
András started the heads-up with a 2-1 lead over Eibinger but the Austrian was able to change things after winning some lucky hands and eventually busted the Hungarian online crusher with Ace-nine against Ace-Ten, whose transition to the live games seems to pay off.
With this €653,000 score, Matthias is now getting closer to $5 million in live earnings, while András reached the second spot on Hungary's all-time money list with almost $3 million in live tournament winnings.
