Meet the November Nine - Player profiles
On November 10th and 11th, the most prestigious event in poker, the World Series of Poker Main Event final table will commence, and will pay out $10 million to the first place finisher. Today we are going to provide a short player profile for each of the nine gentlemen left standing.
Jorryt van Hoof (38.75 million): Van Hoof is a PLO cash-game pro who mainly plays online under the name "TheCleaner11". He is considered to be one of the most experienced players at the final table, in an interview he recently stated that he has given up on PLO cash games since making the final table completely, and that he is mostly playing live NLHE to practice for the biggest day of his career.
Felix Stephensen (32.775 million): Much like van Hoof, Stephensen is also an online PLO pro, and he rarely travels because he doesn't like tournaments, which is something that will probably change regardless of his finish. He is very excited for the finale and hopes to continue running well, which has made him possible to come this far.
Mark Newhouse (26 million): Newhouse has achieved probably the biggest achievement in modern tournament poker by reaching the final table in back-to-back years. By his own admission, busting in 9th place last year was incredibly disappointing. This year, he has a bigger chipstack to work with then in 2013 and most experts believe that besides van Hoof, Newhouse has the best chance of winning the title.
Andoni Larrabe (22.55 million): Larrabe, 22, is an accomplished online tournament regular, he has two SCOOP titles, but he is also successful on the live circuit, he won a side event at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and has 3 WSOP cashes on his resume.
Dan Sindelar (21.2 million): Dan Sindelar is a Las Vegas cash game regular who has moved to the city six years ago with the intentions of becoming pro. He sometimes plays tournaments too, and he didn't do too well in the WSOP Main Event so far, this was his seventh time playing and only his first cash.
William Pappaconstantinou (17.5 million): Billy Pappas is a foosball world champion who has been a poker fan since 2003, but this is the first time he entered the WSOP. He has been planning to play the Main Event "for like 10 years" and is completely shocked that he managed to reach the final table.
Will Tonking (15.05 million): Will Tonking is a 27 year old pro from New Jersey who plays both live and online. He made a $50,000 score on WSOP.com and decided to come out to Vegas for the series. He is very focused on the game, stating "The game is hard enough. The field is tough enough without letting the atomsphere bother me."
Martin Jacobson (14.9 million): If you look at online tournament pro Martin Jacobson's live tournament scores, you can see that he came very close to winning big titles plenty of times, but has never been able to close the deal so far. He played very consistent, he was always in the top spots from Day 1A onwards, where he finished as the chipleader.
Bruno Politano (12.125 million): Bruno Politano, 31, is the first Brazilian to ever make the WSOP Main Event final table, which has landed him a superstars status in Brazil, the whole country supports him, even football stars Kaká and Neymar have sent him their regards in a video message. He promises to bring at least 200 people to the November Nine and if he wins, he could launch a South American poker boom all by himself.
The action will start on Nov 10 on ESPN.com, you can see the final table payouts below:
1. $10,000,000
