PCA 2015 - Steve O'Dwyer wins Super High Roller for $1.87 million

Steve O'Dwyer won the 2014 Asia Championship of Poker Super High Roller just two months ago but has managed to claim another Super High Roller title in yesterday's $100,000 buy-in at the PCA, defeating a stacked final table that included players like Scott Seiver, Bryn Kenney and Sorel Mizzi.

The final table started with the following seating and chipcounts:

Seat 1. Roger Sippl - 3.255.000
Seat 2. Bryn Kenney - 2.410.000
Seat 3. Andrew Robl - 1.370.000
Seat 4. Sorel Mizzi - 4.800.000
Seat 5. Christoph Vogelsang - 1.540.000
Seat 6. Sam Greenwood - 705.000
Seat 7. Steve O'Dwyer - 2.925.000

The first player to bust was Andrew Robl, he raised with QJ of hearts from under the gun. Sippl called in the small blind with K-J of clubs and Kenney called in the big blind with A-8 of clubs. The flop came Q-3-7 with two clubs, everyone checked to Robl, who bet 210,000, and was called in both spots. The turn was a five of hearts, and after Sippl checked, Kenney lead out for 635,000. Robl shoved all-in for just a few more big blinds and Kenney called. The 6 of clubs on the river gave Kenney the winning flush and Robl was eliminated.

The next player to bust was Sam Greenwood, he shoved with 66 after Mizzi raised and Vogelsang called, but he was snapped off by Vogelsang's 9-9 after Mizzi folded, and he couldn't improve.

Vogelsang then lost his chips to Sippl in two hands, first they ended up all-in on a 5-4-2, three hearts flop, Vogelsang had Q-T of hearts while Sippl had A-K with the Ace of hearts for a gutshot straight flush draw. Sippl hit the King of hearts on the turn and dragged in a monster pot.

Not much later Vogelsang lost the rest of his chips after his T-T failed to hold up against Sippl's A-Q in a preflop coinflip situation.

Mizzi, who started the final table as the chipleader had lost most of his chips throughout the day, then got his final 1.7 million in with 2-2 after Kenney raised to 215,000. Kenney called with AJ and rivered a straight to send Mizzi packing.

O'Dwyer won a monster pot during three-handed play with Kings against Sippl's Queens, but doubled up the businessman soon after. In a limped pot on a 2-6-8-8-9 board with a busted flush draw, O'Dwyer called the all-in of Sippl with just 4-2, but unfortunately for him, Sippl had 8-6 for a turned full house.

Kenney was card dead for most of the final table and he shoved his final 3 million chips with K-Q suited over Sippl's raise, but was snapped off by O'Dwyer's T-T which held up without much sweat.

Sippl was playing well and even made a hero call with third pair, but in the final hand of the tournament he couldn't outwit O'Dwyer.

Sippl raised the button with J-T offsuit, and O'Dwyer called with A-T. O'Dwyer then check/called a bet on the Q-8-8 rainbow flop, then both players checked the 2 on the turn. The river came a 3 and O'Dwyer checked for a third time, and Sippl shoved.

O'Dwyer went deep into the tank but eventually made the call with just Ace high, won this recording breaking tournament in fashion, and has now joined Martin Finger as the second ever player to have won an EPT Main Event and an EPT Super High Roller.
