WSOP 2015 - Jason Mercier wins third WSOP bracelet of his career

On Wednesday Jason Mercier won the $5,000 NLHE 6-handed event for $633,357 and according to him, this was enough to bring him out of the hole that he dug in the first 3 weeks of the World Series.

On Wednesday two events played down to the winner while four other events launched.

20 players returned for Day 3 of the Event #32: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed tournament, the chip leader was James "Andy_McLEOD" Obst, but Nacho Barbero, Tuan Le, Jorryt van Hoof, Jennifer Tilly and Jason Mercier were all in contest for the $633,357 first place prize.

Tilly busted in 14th ($25,022), Tuan Le was eliminated in 12th ($32,028), van Hoof in 9th ($42,032) and the final table was reached with the elimination of Nacho Barbero, he ran his Queens into Gorodinsky's KK.

The exact chip counts at the final table were not made available on the WSOP website but Gorodinsky and Mercier both started with big stacks.

Seat 1. James Obst
Seat 2. Igor Dubinsky
Seat 3. Dario Sammartino
Seat 4. Simon Deadman
Seat 5. Jason Mercier
Seat 6. Mike Gorodinsky

The first player to be eliminated was James Obst, he played a massive coinflip with QQ against Mercier's AK and Mercier made broadway on the T-3-6-Q-J board.
Four hands later Igor Dubinskyy 3bet shoved with A2 into Mercier's AJ and the best hend held up.

Mercier proceeded to knock out Sammartino a couple of hands later in a preflop all-in with T9, crushing Sammartino's K6 with a straight on the flop.

Three-handed play lasted 50 hands and was eventually set with the elimination of Mike Gorodinsky, he got his stack in with KJ against Simon Deadman's JT on a J-6-9 flop, unfortunately for him, Deadman spiked a Ten on the river.

Jason Mercier - 7,430,000
Simon Deadman - 6,325,000

Deadman managed to take over the lead but by Level 31 (60,000/120,000-15,000 ante) Mercier was once again leading. In the final hand Deadman 3bet then called all-in for 5 million with KQ suited against Mercier's 6-6.

After a promising J-T-4 flop Deadman failed to improve and with that Jason Mercier took down the third WSOP bracelet of his career.

After the success Mercier stated in an interview that he lost roughly $600,000 in the first three weeks of the series, he didn't make a single Day 2 and ran bad in the cash games aswell, but he also lost money in the $25,000 High Rollers held at Aria and in a prop bet against Brian Hastings.
